2026 Theme: “Beyond the Horizon”

Experience the rolling hills and vineyards of Hermann during the third annual Hermann Plein Air Festival. Artists of every age and every skill level are invited to paint at approved painting locations from Sunday, June 7, 2026 through Friday, June 12, 2026.

On the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2026, artists are invited to participate in an Art Judging and Art Sale at the Historic Festhalle on First Street in Hermann.

Enhance your skills, receive recognition for your art, and experience the vineyards, history, and rolling hills of Hermann.

Hermann Plein Air is for artists of all ages and all skill levels.

Registration is $40 per artist.

T-shirts are available for $20.

Hermann Plein Air is for artists of all ages and all skill levels.
$40 Artist Registration Fee.
T-shirts are available to purchase during registration for $20.
Prior to painting your canvas, you must check in at Old Vine Kitchen Emporium at 210 Schiller Street (Saturday through Friday) to pick up your artist packet and to get your canvas stamped.
All artwork entered into the Art Judging and Sale must be event-generated and stamped. Each artist can submit up to three entries.
Should an artwork sale occur outside of the designated Judging and Art Sale, the artist is required to pay 30% of the sale to the Hermann Arts Council. Failure to comply will result in ineligibility to participate in future Hermann Arts Council events.

Artwork for Plein Air Judging and Art Sale are due Friday, June 12, 2026 by 7 p.m.

Host lodging is available for participating artists traveling from more than 50 miles upon request (weekdays only).
Artists: Join the Hermann Mo Plein Air Facebook Group to share photos of the event and follow along with other participating artists!
Plein Air Paint Out

Artists are invited to Stone Hill Winery on Sunday, June 7, 2026 for the Paint Out event. Artists can paint at Stone Hill Winery anytime during the day.
The Paint Out at Stone Hill Winery will feature an Artist’s Choice Award in the following amounts:
First Place - $400
Second Place - $200
Third Place - $100
Artwork is due by 7:30 p.m. to be included in the Artist’s Choice Vote.
Artists, please be at Stone Hill Winery at 8 p.m. to vote.
Paintings entered into the Paint Out will be sold during the Art Sale on Saturday, June 13. Artwork generated during the Paint Out will not be eligible as an entry into the Final Art Judging on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Judging and Art Sale

Saturday, June 13, 2026
On the afternoon of June 13, artists are invited to participate in an Art Judging and Art Sale at the Historic Festhalle on First Street.
All artwork entered into the Art Judging and Sale must be event-generated and stamped. Each artist can submit up to three entries into the Judging. Artwork generated during the Paint Out will not be eligible as an entry into the Final Art Judging on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Three winners will be selected. The first place winner will receive $1,000, second place $500, and third place $250.
The Hermann Arts Council will retain the painting of the First Place Winner at the Art Sale.
70% of the Art Sale proceeds will be awarded to the artist and 30% of the proceeds will be donated to the Hermann Arts Council.

Hermann Mo Plein Air entries for judging cannot be entered into the Hermann Poster Contest.
